Why We Buy From Local Farms First

Every Greenbarrow shelf starts with a farm visit, not a purchase order. We drive out, walk the rows, taste what is ripe, and only then talk price.

Buying local first means produce that was picked yesterday instead of last month. It means varieties grown for flavor rather than shipping durability — the tomato that bruises if you look at it, and the sweet corn that needs eating tonight.

It also means your money stays in the valley: with the Hassan family dairy, with the orchard crews up on Barrow Hill, and with the market gardeners who wave at you on Saturday mornings.
